Summertime is almost here and many of us are probably incredibly happy to see this fun, sunshine-filled season smile down on us. Summer is three months of vacations, beaches, parties and lots of fun. Long, glorious days to be savored and enjoyed by everyone.
While going to the beach is a treat, it does take a bit of packing beforehand even if it’s only for a day. Once your feet sink into the glorious sand, you’ll want to stay awhile, and the sun’s rays and the sometimes humid air at the beach calls for extra pampering and care to avoid burning and dry skin. - Towel: You may even want to pack two towels – one to lie down on and one to dry off with. A large-sized beach towel is a must to protect you from the hot sand.
- Sunglasses: Those strong, hot rays of sunshine may feel fabulous, but your eyes will thank you if you slip on a great pair of sunglasses. No squinting!
- Flip Flops: Even if you prefer to go barefoot in the sand, you’ll need something for your feet when you walk to and from your car, strut down the strand to eat or shop, or if the sand is simply too hot.
- Sunscreen: No matter your skin type (light, medium, dark), we all know the harsh sun can dry out our skin and/or lead to skin cancer. Always wear your sunscreen.
- Body Lotion or Suntan Oil: Make sure that throughout the day you keep your skin soft and supple to protect from the harsh rays of the sun.
- Hydrating After Sun Spray: At the end of your beach day, apply a hydrating after sun spray made with cocoa butter and oils to help moisturize and restore dry and sun damaged skin.
- Lip Balm or Lip Gloss: The sun can also burn and dry out your lips, so keep your lips well coated and protected with lip balm or a clear lip gloss.
- Books: Even if you think you’ll spend all day in the water, you may decide to relax on your towel and soak up some sun. A good book passes time and intrigues everyone.
- GoPro Camera: For all the adventurous underwater guys and gals, body surfing while taking pictures with a GoPro camera is the bomb!
- Frisbee: You might want to put down your iPhone for a while and toss a frisbee. Sometimes your inner child just needs to play awhile. If you’re at a dog beach, bring your pooch along. Dogs need their playtime too.
