PLAY THE FASHION GAME “WRITE” IN A GORGEOUS PENCIL SKIRT!

I believe that I speak for all fashion fanatics when I say that a must have skirt to accentuate any wardrobe is a pencil skirt! Pencil skirts are adorable and slinky, all mixed together as one. Sensual, stylish and sensational.

Glamour girl eye candy!

In my novel Murder Can Be Messy, the Beverly Hills socialite Victoria Belmont has dressed herself in a stylish pencil skirt merely to meet with a hopeful hit man to devise a plan of action to kill her philandering husband. A true fashion plate always dresses for the occasion, whether the event is on the right end or the wrong end of the law.

For hopeless fashionistas, clothes make or break the mood!

A pencil skirt is a slim-fitting skirt with a straight, narrow cut. The skirt is named for its shape: long and slim like a pencil. Generally the hem falls to, or just below, the knee and is tailored for a close fit. Usually the skirt is a waist skirt, and often times will button up the front or the back, or have a back slit or a side slit, as pencil skirts tend to fit snuggly and can restrict movement due to the slim, narrow shape.

This isn’t all bad. When walking in a pencil skirt, you must take smaller, more graceful steps, and the slower gait sends out a sexy vibe, much like a cat slinking across the street.

Trust me, I speak from experience. You aren’t going to win any foot races while wearing a pencil skirt, but you will win a fashion contest! Activities such as climbing ladders and riding bicycles can be very difficult in a pencil skirt, but you will probably gain a spectator audience.

Although pencil skirts generally do stop just below the knee, there are shorter versions of the skirt. I prefer when the skirt hugs the hips, becomes narrower over the thighs and then hugs the knees! This is an extremely alluring look.

Pencil skirts wear well with pumps, stilettos, platforms or boots!

The French designer Christian Dior introduced the classic modern pencil skirt in the late 1940s. Although the skirt looks great with a loose or a tight blouse or top, a jacket along with the skirt creates a sharp business suit look and would work well in any office or professional setting.

Points to Remember When Wearing a Pencil Skirt:

  1. Entering and exiting a car gracefully takes practice.
  2. When sitting, the skirt hugs your knees together, which could feel restrictive.
  3. Your thighs may feel a little warm due to reduced ventilation, but on the flip side, your skirt is less likely to be blown up by gusts of wind.

Pencils aren’t just for school! Who said pencils were meant for the classroom?

Point to remember: If someone asks you if they can borrow your pencil, look around for any onlookers before you remove your skirt in public.

Play the fashion game right in a gorgeous pencil skirt!
