How to Make Do-It-Yourself Goat Milk Soap
22 oz. Olive Oil
8 oz. Coconut Oil
5 oz. Chilled Water
5 oz. Canned Goat’s Milk
4.2 oz Lye (Sodium Hydroxide)
- A day before you plan on making the soap, weigh out 5 ounces of canned goat’s milk, pour into an ice cube tray and freeze. When you’re ready to make the soap, place the frozen cubes of canned goat’s milk into a heat-proof plastic or stainless steel pitcher. Pour the chilled water on top of the cubes.
- Slowly sprinkle a small amount of lye in at a time, stirring well with each addition. Set the lye mixture aside.
- Heat the coconut oil to approximately 100 degrees in a small saucepan, and pour into the container you’ll mix your soap in. Add the olive oil.
- Line your mold with parchment or freezer paper. A glass 8.5 inch x 4.5 inch or 9 inch x 5 inch loaf pan works well.
- Carefully pour the lye solution into the soap mixture. Stir the oils and lye together. Pour the soap batter into the prepared mold.
- Place the goat milk soap in the refrigerator overnight. Let the soap stay in the mold for 24 hours.
Wahlah! The next day you are ready to unmold and slice the soap into bars. Let the soap cure in the open air for four to six weeks to ensure the soap has firmed up. Beautiful, healthy, completed soap bars will have a long shelf life and improve with age.
Washing with goat milk soap is a sure way to adore your blemish-free, glowing, soft skin. It feeds your skin with goodness.
