What is one fabric that’s popular around the world, worn daily by many people, and is immediately recognizable? If you guessed denim, congratulations!
Whether in a great pair of jeans, jackets, or skirts, we all know denim when we see ’em! But what exactly is denim? Denim is a sturdy cotton warp-faced twill textile in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. This twill weaving produces the familiar diagonal ribbing of the denim that distinguishes it from cotton duck.
Denim Fun Fact: It is characteristic of most denim that only warp threads are dyed, whereas the weft threads remain plain white. As a result of this warp-faced twill weaving, the outside of your jeans shows the blue warp threads and the inside shows the white weft threads!
Sometimes it’s fun to dress in denim from head to toe, but in order to add a more elegant look to rugged denim, wearing softer materials such as lace, satin, or chiffon blouses with denim skirts or pants is a great way to mix tough and tender. This combination makes for a graceful, trendy look. So don’t shy away from dressing up in denim!
When dressed in this stylish, vogue material, you may snarl traffic by causing a major denim disruption!
Over time, denim will usually fade. Some people adore their faded denim!
Types of Faded Denim Patterns Include:
1. Combs or Honeycombs: Faded lines that are found behind the knees.
2. Whiskers: Faded streaks that surround the crotch area of the jeans.
3. Stacks: The inseam of the jeans are hemmed a few inches longer than the actual leg length, with the extra fabric stacking on top of the shoe, causing a faded area to form around the ankle, extending up the calf.
4. Train Tracks: These appear on the outseams of the denim. This pattern forms two sets of parallel fades which resemble train tracks.
The massive, popular blue jean production has caused a major fashion seduction around the world. Cheers to denim for helping to take fashion into a whole new direction! Is denim just a fad? No way! The revered fabric known as denim is here to stay!
The world’s love affair with denim is no secret!
Although denim is a durable, sturdy fabric, often associated with jeans, overalls, and outdoor activities, adding the right materials and accessories to your denim creates a look that radiates and dazzles.
High rise or low rise: rise to any occasion dressed in delicious denim duds!
