In this time of the COVID-19 crisis and the safer-at-home orders, many of us are spending the majority of our days indoors. This means less time engaging in social interactions, working, exercising, getting sunshine and enjoying the fresh air. Being inside all day gives us more time to dwell on negative issues, experience anxiety and miss our lives as they were before the virus erupted. For many who are stuck at home, a feeling of physical and mental dread can creep in. During this time, taking care of your health and appearance is crucial in helping you stay emotionally strong and weather the ordered restrictions.
For your health, eating nutritious foods, getting adequate sleep and exercising will help you stay focused and positive during the stay-at-home lockdown. For exercise buffs who can no longer hit the gym, doing aerobics and light weights at home is critical. Better yet, go outdoors for a walk or a jog. The movement and change of scenery will do wonders for your health and outlook.
The phrase “the better you look, the better your feel” holds true during the COVID-19 restrictions. When you wear makeup, clean, nice clothes and wash and style your hair, you feel great. This shouldn’t change simply because you’re staying home. To keep yourself mentally and physically upbeat, the way you feel about yourself is imperative to a positive, hopeful outlook. For makeup lovers, this is a good time to experiment. Perhaps apply different shades of eye shadows and lipsticks than you normally wear. Also, experiment with gentle over-the-counter hair dyes. You may choose to change the color of your hair, blow dry your locks straight instead of curly, etc. The break from the norm will do you good.
Abandoning your makeup and hair routine, staying in sweats and tennis shoes all day and sleeping longer can make you feel sluggish and sloppy. Sticking to your usual daily schedule as much as possible helps you stay optimistic and healthy.
Whether you’re home with family members or you live alone, practicing beneficial exercise and grooming habits is imperative to keeping your mind and body healthy and happy. Even something as easy as putting on a gorgeous shade of lipstick, or brushing rouge over your cheeks to add color to your face, can be the remedy you need to feel great.
Health and beauty matter to everyone, everyday. Stick to your daily routine to help keep illness and the blues away!
