Levi Strauss, Wrangler and OshKosh knew they had a hit on their hands when they came out with denim jeans. Remember the designer jean craze of Jordache, Bongo, Guess and many other brands? There’s a reason that denim clothing is popular worldwide. The fashionable fabric is darling, dazzling and durable, all rolled into one.
Denim is actually a sturdy cotton warp-faced material in which weft passes under two or more warp threads. This twill weaving produces a diagonal ribbing. The most common is indigo denim, where the warp thread is dyed, while the weft thread is left white. This is what causes blue jeans to be white on the inside.
Denim blue jeans are only a fraction of denim clothing. Other denim garments include capri pants, dresses, hats, jackets, overalls, shirts, shorts, skirts, suits, boots and sneakers. What does this mean for denim lovers? Denim heaven. If you tend to adore denim, why not wear a pair of denim skinny jeans, a denim waist jacket and denim sneakers? For those of you that love denim but prefer to dress up, a pair of high-waisted flared jeans, along with a black velvet blazer and black pumps, looks incredible. Top off the elegant yet sexy ensemble with a rhinestone choker and rhinestone earrings. This creates an outfit of pure beauty, much like mixing leather and lace.
Over time, denim will fade. Some of you prefer the faded look, while others relish the brand new navy look. Holes in the legs of your jeans also creates a popular style, while white threads dangling around your ankles make a fashion statement. You can even find denim in many other colors than blue, such as black, pink, white, purple, green, yellow and orange.
Jeans come in four main patterns:
• Honeycombs: Meshes of faded line-segments that form behind the knees.
• Whiskers: Faded streaks that form radically from the crotch area.
• Stacks: Irregular bands of fading above the ankle, caused by according of the fabric due to contact with the foot and shoe.
• Train Tracks: Fading along the out-seams due to abrasion.
We all want to look and feel fabulous when we step out dressed in dazzling denim duds.
