Glamour Girl Turned Author!

Hi.  As a writer of two novels, I have been asked if I share any similarities with my characters.  If you have read A Passion for Prying and/or Murder Can Be Messy, then you know that Natalie North is a knock-out private investigator who not only excels at busting adulterous creeps, but dares to do it in stylish fashion, accented by a great pair of high heels. If I had to dissect my own writing, Natalie mirrors me in many ways.
I confess:  I am, and have been for as long back as I can recollect, a glamour girl.  Fashion and beauty have interested me ever since I was a little girl.  I remember in the second grade, at the tender age of 7, while all of my friends were Brownies, I signed up to be a Blue Bird (Campfire Girl) merely because their uniforms were so much cuter.  Looking back, it is quite comical, as camping doesn’t strike high on my favorite things to do list.  In fact, I prefer concrete over dirt, which probably leads to my love of the city of Los Angeles, but that subject will be saved for a different blog.
I love stylish clothes, cute clothes, rocking clothes, handbags, accessories, high heeled and platform shoes, makeup, nail polish, perfume and all things girly. I can still get lost in enjoyment turning page after page in fashion magazines, and I love to look at trendy, artistic, alluring fashion commercials and print ads (think Calvin Klein, Guess, Versace for H&M, etc.).  In fact, when I am in Los Angeles, one of my most favorite things to do is to drive down Sunset Boulevard, nearing Beverly Hills, and my eyes are drawn to billboard after billboard of fashion, style, beauty and couture.  That section of Sunset Boulevard is definitely a glamour girl’s visual paradise.
I was born on October 21, which meant that I started kindergarten at the age of 4 due to the age cut off regulations.  I still remember vividly my first day of seventh grade/junior high school, at 12-years-old. I had shaved my legs, wore my first pair of high, high heels, a darling dress, and yes, makeup! I can still see that entire outfit in my head, all these years later.  That is how much I love fashion.  I don’t believe that anyone can ever take the glamour bug out of me, I do say I was just born this way! I am 5’8″ tall, and I love my high heels.  I wear high heels to the grocery store and I even pump my own gas in my high heels!  I’m sure I share this guilty pleasure with many other women! I truly believe that people should have some fun in their lives, and that women don’t have to cut their hair simply because they turn 40, and men over 50 can still drive sports cars!
I consider myself a lucky girl. In addition to my passion for fashion, which I never tire of, I have always loved to write.  Growing up, I would write stories and I knew, even then, that I had a knack for the written word and for telling a good story.  So, what better way to live out my desires than to write novels (and screenplays) and let my characters bring to life my love of fashion and beauty. I get to live the best of both worlds all wrapped into one!
I would welcome the opportunity to chat with you and I hope that my readers are enjoying their mystery journeys with Natalie North and all of the crazy, fun, heartwarming characters that she gets tangled up with. I am busy writing my third novel and marketing my first two books,  If you’re looking to read fun, entertaining, heartfelt novels, A Passion for Prying and Murder Can Be Messy won’t disappoint. Especially if you like some style and pizzazz tossed in to a fun read! The books are available in hard cover, paperback and ebook format.
