HAUTE COUTURE IN A HALTERNECK!

For fashion fun and fashion flair, especially for a day in the sun, you always win wearing a halterneck. Whether you prefer a halter top or a halter dress, the halter style is always, well, in style!
A halterneck is a style of strap which holds up women’s clothing which features a single strap of material that runs from the front of the garment, around the back of the wearer’s neck, and that enables most of the wearer’s back to be uncovered.
The halter style is commonly used with swimsuits, which enables the wearer to maximize sun tan exposure on the back and minimize tan lines. The halter style also looks smashing used with dresses and shirts, to create a backless dress or top.
Open, airy, sexy and sweet!

Halterneck Fun Fact: The term halterneck is derived from the halter, which is placed around an animal’s neck.
Halterneck styles look lovely when appearing on both shirts and dresses.
A dress is a garment consisting of a skirt with an attached bodice for a matching bodice, giving off the effect of a one-piece garment. In most cultures, dresses are most often worn by women and girls.
A shirt is a cloth garment for the upper body, popular with men and women.
Hail the halterneck!

When wearing a halterneck, the neck strap can be covered by your hair, leaving the impression from behind that nothing is holding up the dress or the shirt.
Halterneck Fashion Tip: Halternecks are generally designed to be worn without a bra. If a bra is worn with a halterneck, it is generally either a strapless bra or, the bra itself is of halterneck construction, so as to avoid exposing the back straps of the bra. However, some people enjoy revealing delicate bra straps, often times colorful straps!18

Halter tops are sleeveless shirts similar to tank tops, but with straps being tied behind the neck. In another style of the halter top, there is only a narrow strap behind the neck and a narrow strap behind the middle of the back, so that it is mostly backless.
Halterneck garments are always visually hot and help to keep you from getting too hot and heating up on a hot, sunshiny day!
Don’t overheat – wear a halterneck!

Various Types of Halterneck:

  2. Spaghetti Strap
  3. Tank Top

Are you soon to be a blushing bride? Halterneck wedding dresses are gorgeous. To ramp up the elegant appeal, walk down the aisle in a mermaid style dress and your hair swept up, with dainty wispies flowing down. The crown on your head? A wreath of real fresh flowers. Luscious and lovely, you beautiful bride!
Shirt Fun Fact: The world’s oldest preserved garment, discovered by Flinders Petrie, is a “highly sophisticated” linen shirt from a First Dynasty Egyptian tomb at Tarkan, e. 3000 BC: “the shoulders and sleeves have been finely pleated to give form-fitting trimness while allowing the wearer room to move. The small fringe formed during weaving along one edge of the cloth has been placed by the designer to decorate the neck opening and side seam.” (Not a halterneck, but quite a handsome collar, no doubt)!
Happy in a halterneck!

European and American women began wearing shirts in 1860, when the Garibaldi shirt, a red shirt as worn by the freedom fighters under Giuseppe Garibaldi, was popularized by Empress Eugenie of France. At the end of the nineteenth century, the Century Dictionary described an ordinary shirt as “of cotton, with linen bosom, wristbands and cuffs prepared for stiffening with starch, the collar and wristbands being usually separate and adjustable.”
Fast forward to today, and the halterneck is one of the most popular styles of tops and dresses worn and adored by women!
