Nothing boosts an individual’s confidence level like a fantastic outfit. When Dressed for the occasion, a person’s confidence, self-awareness, and ability to command a room is heightened because of their outfit. That is why so many work harder to select unique accessories for those outfits and occasions. Everything from shoes to scarves to jewelry gets chosen to take your outfit up a notch. However, some people have adversity to wearing fine jewelry out in public spaces.

Please continue reading to discover why so many are wary of wearing their meaningful and fine jewelry pieces outside the home and ways to reduce their anxieties surrounding expensive jewelry.

For some, buying and wearing fashionable jewelry is the answer to their hesitancy to wear fine or expensive jewelry. Fashion jewelry is jewelry that is plated and has synthetic or artificial stones. It doesn’t have much value and if lost it is easily replaced.

Whether your fine jewelry pieces are heirlooms passed down through generations or sentimental gifts given in love, most jewelry pieces have a story behind them and mean a lot to the owner. Sadly, they fear that wearing expensive and fine jewelry is often associated with flaunting or there is a fear of theft or simply losing the jewelry.

Some tips to reduce the anxiety about wearing fine and expensive jewels are:

Have Clamps Closures Checked and Repaired

Regardless of the type of closure or clasp that your jewelry has, they all tend to wear down over time. That wear and tear could result in jewelry simply falling off. The wear and tear is why, according to jeweler Ross Simon, your clamps should be checked for tightness every few years. Wear and tear is especially true on pieces of jewelry that you wear often.

Some types of clamps are:

  • Spring ring jewelry clasp
  • Push Button jewelry clasp
  • Lobster jewelry clasp
  • Hook jewelry clasp
  • Box jewelry clasp
  • Closed barrel jewelry clasp
  • Ball clasp
  • Fishhawk jewelry clasp

Many fine jewelry stores will check and restore clasps on pieces purchased in their stores. There is often a repair shop for jewelry and local malls for heirlooms or other jewelry. Ensuring that your jewelry won’t fall off your arm or neck because of the clasp is one way to reduce anxiety.

Also, if you have an old piece that you want to add a more secure clasp to, your jeweler should be able to do that for you.

Get Jewelry Insurance

Unfortunately, if your house is ever burglarized, the first thing robbers tends to look for is jewelry. It is small enough to store in a pocket yet has enough value to be hocked without much of a trace. That is why getting insurance on your fine jewelry is strongly recommended.

In addition to giving you peace of mind, jewelry insurance will also benefit you by:

  • covering repairs and damage
  • covering accidents
  • being cost-effective

Don’t Show Off Your Fine Jewelry to The World

Many people use social media as an opportunity to share their happiness and life with the world. However, many advise against showing off your newly acquired pieces of expensive jewelry. In addition to folks thinking you are flaunting and wishing you bad luck, showing your jewelry is an easy way to make you a target of a robbery.

Instead of displaying your jewelry as a new item or even making a mention of it, wearing it in a picture with a caption unrelated to your jewelry is more appropriate. It is subtle and shows you as someone who has more depth than simply showing off jewelry.

On the other hand, if fine jewelry is your niche on social media, find a way to display your pieces without discussing their cost. Also, making sure that those pieces are insured will benefit your sharing.

As you have read, there is a difference between fashion jewelry and fine expensive jewelry. Wearing either can enhance an outfit and take it up a notch although many have anxiety about wearing their fine jewelry. However, I have researched and listed three ways jewelry wearers can reduce their anxiety about their precious pieces of expensive pieces. Putting these tips into play will reduce the anxiety of wearing expensive jewelry
