Ah, how true. There is something about coloring your lips with red lipstick that makes people notice you, stop and stare, take a second look. If you ever doubt this, stand in front of a mirror and apply all other shades of lipstick (pinks, oranges, purples, bronzes) and although they’ll look great, when you swipe on a radical shade of red, your lips will literally pop and your face will stand out!

As I’ve said with fashion, whatever your heart desires works the best for you. However, when wearing red lipsticks, there are certain shades of red that simply glimmer with various skin tones. The best way to get a great red lip that stops people in their tracks is to line the lips with a similar color lip liner. This will eliminate the lipstick (or gloss) from bleeding and add shape to your lips. Then, pick your favorite shade of red. Paint the lipstick inside of the lip liner and blend the two together (with your fingertip or Q-tip) for a finished, polished, luxurious look. I know some people prefer their lip liner a bit darker than the lipstick, and unblended, and that works too! Like the fashion rules say, whatever works for you is the right way!
