Stepping Out Styling in Sandals!

As much as some people live for the summertime, there are people who love the feel of open, lightweight shoes covering their feet, and live for moseying through their days in a great pair of sandals! Sandals are to summer what umbrellas are to winter. Necessary!
With so many cute, decorated, trendy sandals on the market today, sandals aren’t only to be worn as beach wear. Sandals highlight shorts, skirts, dresses, pants, as well as bathing suits and beach wear, and one can find a stylish, modern, appropriate sandal to wear with most any outfit.
Sandals are an open outdoor footwear, consisting of a sole held to the wearer’s foot by straps passing over the instep, and sometimes, around the ankle. While the distinction between sandals and other types of footwear can sometimes overlap (high heeled sandals, platform sandals) for the purpose of this blog post, I am referring to a flat soled sandal.

When wearing a sandal, most of the upper part of the foot is exposed, particularly the toes. A chic sandal showing off a magnificent pedicure and toenail polish extravaganza makes for a beautiful, ravishing foot!
Beware if you are walking around in a killer pair of sandals with people who are plagued by extreme foot fetishes! Your glistening feet will be irresistible!
People tend to wear sandals in warmer climates or during warmer parts of the year both for fashion, and in order to keep their feet cool and dry.
A true sandal may have a sole made from rubber, leather, wood, tatami or rope. The sandal may be held to the foot by a narrow thong that generally passes between the big toe and the second toe. The sandal shoe can also be held in place by a strap or lace, that passes over the arch of the foot and/or around the ankle.
I love the looks of sandals that continue to wrap above the ankle, and then buckle or tie! These particular styles of sandals are sexy!

The oldest known sandals (and the oldest known footwear of any type) were discovered in Fort Rock Cave in the state of Oregon in the United States. The sandals were made from sagebrush bark which indicated that the shoes were at least 10,000 years old! I wonder how the sandals ended up in an Oregon cave? Something I might need to investigate! If I ever do, I will be sure to blog about my experience!
The word sandal derives from the Greek word sandalon. The ancient Egyptians wore sandals made of palm leaves and papyrus. They are sometimes still observable on the feet of Egyptian statues. According to Herodotus, sandals of papyrus were part of the required and characteristic dress of the Egyptian priests.
Today, sandals are a popular shoe worn around the world.

As much as sandals can be decorated, jeweled and beaded up to be adored by women, sandals are just as much in demand as an acceptable, admired shoe for men!

Sandals are such a coveted shoe that the classic warm weathered footwear sometimes beats out high heels and are strutted down the runway!
From the catwalk to the sidewalk without having to change your shoes!

Sandals come in many styles, some of which are:

  1. Barefoot Sandals (no sole as in the ankle to toe ring ensemble)
  2. Clogs
  3. Fisherman Sandals
  4. Jelly Sandals
  5. Grecian Sandals (fastening around or above the ankle)
  6. Huaraches (flat sandal made from recycled rubber used by runners)

The sandal supply is endless, not to mention the shoes can also be flashy and favored!

When slipped onto your feet, feminine sandals can shimmer and sparkle. Add a beautiful toe ring and your feet will be rocketed into high glamour proportions!

Sandals are so much more than a comfortable, airy shoe to slip your feet into during hot weathered months!
Sandals conjure up images of beaches, parks, barbecues, brunches, parties, fiestas, outside cafe dinners, etc. A strappy, flowery, jeweled sandal wears nicely with long summer dresses and maxi dresses!
Shoes don’t need to feel heavy and cumbersome on your feet.
Allow your pups to bark and to breathe while wearing a vogue pair of sandals.
Sandals allow you to step out in style!

Please tell me who make the multicolored beaded thong sandal that has shades of blue-green & then shades of pink on the front. It looks like it zips up in the back. These are to die for!

    • Hi Carolyn,
The sandals you are referring to are Kenya African Leather Beaded Sandals and I agree that they are beautiful. You can hopefully find a pair (and many other colorful beaded gladiator sandals) on http://www.etsy.com If you don’t find them on that website, both designers Steve Madden and Sam Edelman make great beaded gladiator sandals! I hope this helps and thank you for reading my fashion magazine!
