In order to achieve this dramatic look and the chic connotation that it conveys, the one earring needs to be large, long and very noticeable. Although the one stud earring is fashionable, it doesn’t convey the same image as decorating only one ear with a super stand out earring!
An earring is a piece of jewelry attached to the ear via a piercing in the earlobe or another external part of the ear, or is clipped onto the earlobe. Earrings are won by both sexes, although are more common among women, and have been used by different civilizations in different times.
Earrings are pretty, fun, ornamental pieces of jewelry. Earring components may be made from a number of materials, including metal, plastic, glass, precious stone, beads, wood, bone and other materials.
Generally, earrings work much like shoes. Two ears – each ear adorned with the same matching earring (a pair of earrings). With shoes, two feet, so most people wear a matching shoe on the right and left foot (pair of shoes). Now, to stir up this concept and wear only one of the two items, be it one gorgeous earring decorating only one ear, creates a look that is funky, hip and trendy. I’m not so sure the same look would be conveyed with only wearing one shoe, and keeping the other foot barefoot. But, this is fashion, so hey, who am I to judge someone else’s idea of fashion fun?
The ear is the organ of hearing and has three parts – the outer ear, middle ear and inner ear. And, as humans have done with virtually every outer part of the body, the ear is visually enhanced when adorned in elegant, glamorous earrings. The ear has been decorated by earrings and other jewelry in numerous cultures for thousands of years, and has been subjected to surgical and cosmetic alterations. Hence, the earring!
Earring Fun Fact: For those who prefer pierced ears, the simple term “ear piercing” refers to an earlobe piercing, whereas piercings in the upper part of the external ear are often referred to as “cartilage piercings.” Cartilage piercings are more complex to perform than earlobe piercings and take longer to heal.

Early evidence of earrings worn by men can be seen in archeological evidence from Persepolis in ancient Persia.
