WOW! WHO’S THE VISUAL WONDER IN THE ONE-PIECE BATHING SUIT?

Love them or hate them, bathing suits are a staple of fashion that have evolved throughout the centuries. What were once known as ‘bathing gowns” in the 18th century (long dresses of fabrics that would not become transparent when wet, with weights sewn into the hems so that the bathing suits wouldn’t rise up in the water), have graduated today to the popular women’s swimsuits consisting of one-piece swimwear, bikinis and thongs!
Since bathing suits can bring you incredible joy when you look in the mirror, or make you cringe and feel that you need to hire a personal trainer as soon as possible, or, you are comfortable with yourself in a bathing suit no matter what anyone else thinks, you can always look flattering and fashionable when wowing in a one-piece swimsuit.
A one-piece swimsuit is usually a skin-tight bathing suit that covers a female’s torso, made from one solid piece of material.

One-piece bathing suits don’t have to mean out of shape or old fashioned. There are many one-piece suits that are downright darling, and from a fashion stand point, many one-piece bathing suits are far more attractive than their sister suits, the bikini and the thong. One reason is because with a one-piece swimsuit, you have more fabric to work with, allowing the garment to consist of more style and fashion flair than its itsy bitsy teenie weenie bikini competitor!
Bathing suits are also known as swimsuits, swimming costumes, togs and bathers, and the item of clothing is designed to be worn while the wearer is engaging in water-based activity or water sports, such as swimming, water polo, diving, surfing, water skiing, or when you don’t want to get wet at all and you just prefer to sun bathe. The one-piece bathing suit: a fabulous alternative to the wet suit!
One-piece bathing suits are beautiful, providing stylish, trendy, sensual looks while also offering more support and modesty than bikinis and thong bathing suits.

One-Piece Bathing Suit Fun Fact: One-piece swimsuits are worn when there is a need to display the body, as is the case with beauty pageants or bodybuilding contests. Glamour photography and magazines such as Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue feature models and sports personalities in various styles of swimsuits.
There are many styles and cuts of modern swimsuits available today, which vary in relation to body coverage and materials, that even the most modest of people are going to find a bathing suit that they feel comfortable in and that also matches their unique tastes and flatters their figures.
One-Piece Swimsuit Fun Fact:  The one-piece bathing suit is also known as the tank suit or maillot.  The term “tank suit” is supposed to be derived from the term “swimming tank”,  an obsolete term for what is now called a swimming pool. This swimsuit resembles a sleeveless leotard or body suit. Think Pamela Anderson in Baywatch! Variants of this include halterneck and plunge front swimsuits, as well as the wrap-around and bandeau style. The pretzel suit is another special case of the one-piece swimsuit.

For those of you who wish to dress in modest fashion and not get sunburned, perhaps you may want to purchase a burqini. A  burqini covers the whole body and head, but not the face, in a manner similar to a diver’s wetsuit. A positive of the burqini: minimal sunblock needed!
Bathing Suit Fun Fact:  In the Victorian era, popular beach resorts were commonly equipped with bathing machines designed to avoid the exposure to people in swimsuits, especially to people of the opposite sex! Ohh la la! Va-va-voom! I’m too sexy for my swimsuit, too sexy for my swimsuit, too sexy for my swimsuit, too sexy!

Some swimsuits are designed specifically for swimming competitions where they may be constructed of a special low resistance fabric that reduces skin drag. Swimsuits specifically made to wear during competitions are manufactured to assist the athlete to glide at a quicker pace in the water and to move in an unencumbered fashion.
And then, for the true fashion diehard where fabric trumps practicality and trendy trumps comfort, many one-piece bathing suits are designed specifically for aesthetic appearances!

Bathing Suit Not So Fun Fact:  Germs, bacteria and mold can grow very quickly on wet bathing suits! Medical professionals warn that wearing damp swimwear for long periods of time can cause a number of infections and rashes in children and adults, and warn against sharing bathing suits with others!

I remember when I would go to the beach as a girl, and the minute that my family laid our towels out in the sand, I was in the water, where I stayed most of the day.
