Wrap Yourself Darling in a Wrap Dress!

Generally, when you think of wrapping something, you envision a gift, or a present, or a box. How about wrapping yourself up in an adorable, darling and always knock-out wrap dress?

The wrap dress was popularized in 1972 when Diane von Furstenberg displayed a knitted jersey wrap dress that was knee-length and long sleeved. The wrap dress is a dress with a front closure formed by wrapping one side of the dress material across the other side, and knotting the attached ties that wrap around the back at the waist, giving the garment a “wrapped” look. This dress style forms a V-shaped neckline and hugs a woman’s curves in all the right places!

In addition to knitted jersey, wrap dresses can be found in other materials, such as cotton, silk and satin. Due to the stretchy and comfortable flexibility provided by the wrap dress, many women find the wrap an ideal garment to wear as maternity clothing, while still maintaining up-to-the-minute style.

A wrap dress is a great, versatile piece of clothing to have in your closet. With a slim-fitting top and a looser skirt, often with extra material across the bust and the stomach, the wrap look enhances the bust while accentuating and slimming the waist, and flattering the stomach.

In addition to dresses, wrap skirts provide the wearer with just as much fashion fun and a comfortable, non-binding waist!

As with all clothing, keep the print and pattern in mind that works best for you when you are purchasing a wrap dress. Wear colors, styles and prints that flatter you and satisfy you completely.

Wrap dresses can be worn as work attire, daytime attire or evening attire. If you would like to wear a wrap dress to work, but feel that the V-neck is too plunging for the office, you may choose to wear a camisole or a tank top underneath, or a blazer or a cardigan over the top.

If you have worked all day in a cozy wrap dress, and you would like to wear the same wrap dress that evening, simply fancy the dress up with a more feminine, higher heeled shoe, and dainty or flashy accessories and jewelry! An easy approach to a classier look!

One nice feature about the wrap dress is that, where the two sides of material overlap and tie, you usually get a nice, big, beautiful bow to accentuate your waistline!
