All Tied Up in Fashion Framing Scarves!

In recent years, scarves have experienced a fashion forward revival! Whether your scarf is tied in a knot, wrapped around your neck or draped over your shoulders, scarves can set off an outfit much like the whip cream on the hot chocolate or the exclamation mark at the end of the sentence!
A scarf, also known as a muffler or a neck wrap, is a piece of fabric/material worn around the neck, near the head, wrapped over the head, or tied around the waist. Scarves can be used for warmth, cleanliness, religious reasons and of course, for fashion fun!
Scarves come in a variety of sizes, colors and patterns, and can add a vibrant, festive allure to any garment!

Some common fabrics that scarves are made of include wool, cashmere, cotton, jersey, linen, yarn, silk and satin. As with most fashion accessories, a scarf can be used to doll an outfit up or to give off a more casual, sporty appearance!

Ancient Rome is one of the first origins of the scarf, where it was used by people to keep clean. This type of scarf was called the “sudarium”, which translates from Latin to English as “sweat cloth”, and was used to wipe the sweat from the neck and face in hot weather. These scarves were originally worn by men around their necks or tied to their belts. Soon women started using the scarves, and ever since, the scarf has been fashionable among women!
Surprise! Women turned the practical piece of material into a fashion extravaganza!
By the early 19th century, the scarf became a fashion accessory for both men and women. Today, the scarf is an accepted fashion item that can be worn in a variety of ways, whether for practicality in the weather of merely to spice up your sassy or sexy clothing!

Men look just as scrumptious and sexy in scarves as women! Masculine and seductive!

Wearing a scarf in your hair to hold up a bun, or tying a scarf around your waist are a couple of great, unique ways to wear the scarf!

If you prefer to tie a scarf over your head, accenting and framing your face, you can accomplish the task of putting on the scarf in three easy steps:

1. Place the scarf underneath your hair and hold an end of the scarf in each hand.
2. Bring the scarf up and across the top of your forehead and wrap the ends in a crossed knot, but don’t tie the knot.
3. Adjust the scarf to where you want the fabric positioned and firmly tie the knot.

Another vogue way to wear the scarf over your head is to bring the scarf down over the sides of your face and tie the scarf under your chin, or tie the scarf on the side of your head.

A scarf wears extremely well around the neck choker style or when worn loosely over a blazer or a jacket. This ensemble is dressy enough to be worn to a party, a nice restaurant or to an office event, yet you would be just as comfortable to adorn your body in this get up on a shopping excursion or even to a casual fast-food lunch.
This look reminds me of something that I would piece together and wear, with one twist: I adore high heels, and the higher the heel, the more trendy and fashionable the look! I would decorate my shoe friendly feet in at least a 4 or 5 inch heel to really add a hip edge to this stylish, chic outfit!

Scarves can be interchanged to match your moods and your clothes in the same way that jewelry, shoes and handbags have been helping us for years! Be it Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, have a ball and wear it all!


And to think that the scarf was originally used to wipe sweat!
The scarf has come a long, long way to where it is today!
