Hair Fun With a Bun!

Hair is where it’s at. Whether your hair is long or short, curly or straight, thick or thin, blonde or black, your hair is the frame of your face; the crown jewel of your head.
Whether your hair is down to there or up to your ears, your hair speaks volumes, and merely by changing your hairstyle, you can speak many moods in many languages!
Let’s have fun with the hairstyle known as the bun!
A bun (also known as the bobtail) is a type of hairstyle where the hair is pulled back from the face, twisted or plaited, and wrapped in a circular coil around itself, typically pinned on the top of the head, the back of the head or on the back of the neck. Buns can be secured in place with a hairpiece, a hairnet, bobby pins or hair clips.
There are many types of buns. The ballerina bun sits on top of the head and is a great, savvy look for any occasion. This type of bun can be worn with an elegant garment, or with a more every day, casual outfit and wear extremely well!

The french bun twist is another bun that provides a beautiful appearance. This type of hairstyle looks charming as a formal hairstyle. Add braids to the bun, and the look is playful, alluring and exquisite!

The twisted bun is easy to do and provides a feminine, youthful look. This type of bun works for shoulder length hair and longer. Knowing how to make a hair bun allows you the opportunity to instantly change your appearance and have fun with a stylish, trendy, easy hairstyle.
How to Make a Twisted Bun:

1. Put your hair in a ponytail.
2. You can rest the ponytail high on your head or at the nape of your neck.
3. Hold your ponytail in your hand and start to twist it near the ponytail headband.
4. Continue to twist your hair until the hair is completely wrapped and twisted.
5. Now twist, starting at the base of your ponytail, until your ponytail is in circles on your head or the back of the neck (wherever you want to place the bun).
6. Hold the bun in place with your hand as you insert bobby pins to secure your bun into place.
7. You may want to add some hair spray to help hold the bun in place.
8. Hair gloss or hair shine sprayed over the hairdo polishes off the look.

Buns look exceptionally attractive when you add hair ornaments and various accessories to doll up the bun and/or help to secure the bun from falling loose!

When you think of how easy buns are to make, the types of buns and the various looks that you can pull off with buns is truly fashionable excitement! In addition to darling hair decorations, bun covers can add a cute, festive look to the always “in” hairdo.

A sexy, sensual, youthful highlight to accentuate your bun is allowing wispy hairs to dangle around your face, or around the back of your head. These loose locks look luscious and add a touch of class to the bun. This look isn’t as dramatic as a bun where all of the hair is pulled tightly off of the face.
I also adore the messy bun look. Classic and chic!

As with all fashion, don’t be afraid to experiment with your hair and wear a signature bun that spells your name!  A bun that is completely unique to you. A true original!
Some great ideas are crimped buns and real dramatic, high fashion buns, which are fantastic for evening wear!

The notion that buns are old fashioned or the hair choice for only librarians is merely a myth. In India, it is common for female college professors to wear their hair in a bun, in order to identify with their professions.

As someone who enjoys jewelry and never leaves home without my earrings on, the bun is a perfect hairstyle to be worn with long, large. luxurious earrings.  When the hair is pulled up off of the neck, the entire neck shows and appears longer. The dangling earrings accentuate the neck even more!
